THE EXPERIENCE
Discover Al Wathba Wetland Reserve
The reserve protects lakes and salt-flat habitat used by flamingos and many other species. Its conservation status includes Ramsar recognition, and visitor facilities were designed around observation rather than intensive recreation. That ecological role remains important even while public entry is suspended for development work.
The Environment Agency's current notice says the reserve is temporarily closed until further notice. This means the former walking trails and birdwatching hide should be regarded as unavailable unless the agency confirms reopening. The nearby fossil dunes are a separate attraction and do not indicate that wetland entry has resumed.
- Protected flamingo habitat
- Ramsar-recognised wetland
- Visitor trails currently unavailable
